Hello
Fellow Racers,
After a fantastic day of tyre spinning fun in the sun at Eastern Creek Raceway, the results are in for the Euro Revolution / Euro Automotive / Unitronic EC Sprint!
Firstly, the Open Class - catering specifically to JDM / ADM vehicles with two iconic names to kick of the Day – GTR and EVO.
If you have seen the times, these two competitors were more than close on the timing board with less than a second between them. Money was almost certainly on the GTR...but add in a handicap for DSG, and the production date and the scales started to tip back to Jason in the Evo – JUST. By 0.40 points over 4 heats to be exact...close racing indeed guys.
The Hot Hatch class was up next with the long standing battle between the French and the Germans once again to be fought out in front of all on this high speed circuit.
With Joey and Anthony both first timers to this circuit, Shacker’s wasted no times and exploded from pit lane to show them how it is done setting a blistering time that the boys were left chasing all day...until Joey with the help of some tutoring from fellow competitors discovered some new lines and dropped almost 4 seconds to put him back at the pointy end of the podium with Anthony hot on his heels.
Despite the Grunt and the Grip the VW R32 has to offer, at the end of the day it is a very heavy car and despite the driving talents of Trent posting some pretty spectacular times...when your 400kg heavier than some of the other cars in the field...there is only so much you can do.
Good work dude but Shacker’s , Anthony and Joey drive like there is a gold mine on the line...and if Shacker’s didn’t retire, early the gold mine would have been hers – lucky for Anthony who claimed the win just 0.4 points ahead of Joey also just another 0.4 points ahead of Shackers.
Is there a Hot Hatch owner out there that can compete with these three? Time to put your money where your mouth is and get down to the circuit – only one event left for this year.
The Sports Coupe class though was where all the action was with DKN’s M3 GTR drawing in competitors and spectators like a Mr Whippy van at the Beach. To say it looked fast standing still is an understatement – and with over 400KW on tap no other car came close!
Another slug match between good mates also kept spectators eyes on the circuit – Jeff in the Autopia BMW and Mark in the Porsche 968 – BMW vs Porsche at it’s best people.
With another 9 BMW’s also from E92’s to E21’s all on the circuit it was a Bavarian motorfest, all putting pedal to the metal for their share of $800 worth of prizes...as any ‘Highlander’ fan will tell you though -”there can be only one”!
And this time is was Mark in the 968 who stood atop the podium braving the heat of the circuit posting the most consistent times of the day - Porsche won this battle royale...but only just.
Just one point behind was Andrew in the E46 with both EziBoy and Jeff tying in equal third place...where else will you see a E21 tie with a 135?
Each of the Above winners receive $100 each to spend at Euro Revolution / Euro Automotive or on any Unitronic Performance Program plus have earned valuable points for the $4000 worth of prizes in the winners circle at the end of the year!
Enough Jibba Jabba, on to the Bonus Prizes – the ‘Circuit Breaker’ and the ‘Stig’.
Anyone with half a clue would have put money squarely on DKN in the M3 GTR to walk away with the Circuit Breaker prizes...GGTTRR had other plans though, and in the first session pulled a rabbit out of the hat to claim the fastest time of the day of 1:45:0910 – just ahead of DKN on 1:45:8280...not even a second between them!
The ‘Stig’ award this time goes to the driver who made the most of his 105 killer wasps under the bonnet – Eziboy in his E21 on 46.4274 points...just ahead of Blake (voted the ‘cutest guy’ on the circuit by the girls – and no this is not becoming a prize category) in his TT Convertible on 46.6163.
Both GGTTRR and EziBoy win not only $100 Sureflo Performance Exhaust Dollars thanks to Greg and the team in Ingleburn, they also win another $100 each to spend at Euro Revolution / Euro Automotive or on any Unitronic Performance Program!
